Strengthening friendly ties with Pakistan is China’s priority: Spokesman

Expressing confidence in future ties with Pakistan, China said Tuesday that to consolidate its friendly cooperation with its South Asian all weather friend ‘is one of the priorities in our diplomacy’.China has always valued its relations with Pakistan from strategic perspective, said foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei in response to a question on marking 2011 as Friendship Year to celebrate the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.Pakistan and China, Hong said are ‘good neighbours, good friends and good partners’ adding that “we enjoy all weather friendship and comprehensive cooperation in various fields”.

He further said that at present our strategic relations and partnership enjoy good development by frequent visits.

In this regard, Hong particularly mentioned the December 17-19 visit of Wen Jiabao by saying that the Chinese Premier has ‘just made a successful visit to Pakistan’.

He maintained that ‘our practical cooperation has been fruitful’.

China, he said will continue to advance its relations with Pakistan from strategic and long term perspectives.

“We will continue to straighten our traditional friendship and advance practical cooperation in various fields and jointly contribute to peace, development and stability in the region,” he observed.

“We hope that in this year we will hold various celebration activities and bring our bilateral relations to new heights,” Hong added.
