China Backs Pakistan On Kashmir, Says Add-On Visas To Stay

Striking a tough pose again, China on Thursday asserted that it would not change its stapled visa policy for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir for now, and reaffirmed its support to the Pakistani stand on the Kashmir issue.

In a forceful speech at a seminar in the capital of Pakistan, the Chinese ambassador to Islamabad said that Beijing would not compromise with India over Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh.

The ambassador described Pakistan as a friend and key ally, saying that nothing would be allowed to prejudice the relationship.

He said that talks were on with New Delhi over Arunachal Pradesh, and that the latter had been clearly told that Beijing would not forgo its interests.

The envoy urged India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue permanently through talks.

“China has become the gateway for global economics. It takes its own decisions and brooks no dictation from any one,” he said.
