PA passes resolution in favour of Pak-China Friendship Year

Punjab Assembly (PA), on Thursday, endorsing the federal government’s decision to celebrate year 2011 as ‘Pak-China Friendship Year’, passed a unanimous resolution to further strengthen the relations between the two countries. Provincial Minister for Industries Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, from the treasury benches, moved the resolution that was adopted by the House jointly. The resolution says, “The government of Pakistan has announced celebrating 2011 as Pak-China Friendship Year. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has also announced its celebration in a befitting manner. This will provide opportunity to all people to play their role in this regard, since active participation from the business community, organisations, students and teachers would be ensured in different programmes meant for the awareness of the public at large.” It added, “No doubt that the Pak-China friendship is immortal and higher than the Himalayas, deeper than the ocean and sweeter than honey.” China has always assisted Pakistan in difficult times, such as floods, earthquake, or support for eliminating terrorism, and has thus proved to be a sincere friend of Pakistan. The celebration of Pak-China friendship Year will further strengthen Pak-China friendship, it concluded. Separately, the assembly also demanded the federal government to immediately withdraw tax on agriculture produce and passed another resolution unanimously that was moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) legislator Mohsin Leghari.
