Pakistan, China always help each other in hour of need

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khan said on Thursday that the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to China was very important as both the countries would hold a series of activities to mark the 61th anniversary of the establishment of their ties.

He said that the basic focus of the visit was to celebrate the diplomatic relationship and in this regard all activities were important in terms of their symbolism and substance.

Talking to a news channel, Ambassador Khan said that China-Pakistan friendship was “all-weather and time-tested,” and both the countries were trying to promote bilateral economic cooperation, trade, social and cultural ties.

About energy cooperation, he said like other countries, China was also helping Pakistan. China had helped Pakistan in nuclear power energy and with its assistance Chashma-II had been inaugurated.

Ambassador Khan said,”our cooperation is long term and we have also prepared other projects which are clean and as per International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s safeguards”.

Relying to a question, he said that the Prime Minister’s visit was already planned and besides other engagements, he would hold meetings with the Chinese leadership.

He would inaugurate World Cultural Forum in China which is expected to be attended by over 500 representatives of different countries.

The Prime Minister, during his stay will also visit Peeking University and address the students. He will also attend the entrepreneur forum.

He said that the Prime Minister was also scheduled to visit a space centre where a communication satellite is being fabricated for Pakistan and it will be launched on August 14 this year.

Answering another question, he said both China and Pakistan have always helped each other in the hour of need and in the current circumstances, Chins has categorically told the world about the important role of Pakistan played in the war against terror.

The Ambassador said that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that China would fully support the stance of Pakistan regarding its national interest, solidarity and integrity.
