Senior Chinese legislator pledges continuous support for Pakistan’s efforts in safeguarding sovereignty, independence

A senior legislator on Tuesday met with a delegation of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (Pakistan Movement for Justice), saying China will continue its support for Pakistan’s efforts in safeguarding national sovereignty and independence.

Ismail Tiliwaldi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s top legislature, made the remark while meeting with Imran Khan, chairman of the Tehrik-e-Insaf, a Pakistani political party.

Tiliwaldi praised the sound and stable development of bilateral relations over the past 60 years, saying that China and Pakistan are "good neighbors, friends and partners."

China highly appreciates Pakistan’s long-term support on issues concerning China’s core interests, he said, adding that China will continue to support Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability, as well as safeguard its own sovereignty and independence.

Khan spoke highly of bilateral relations and thanked China for its consistent support to Pakistan in international and regional affairs.

Pakistan hopes to learn from China’s development experience and boost the development of the friendship between the two countries, he added.

The delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
